How to Make Your PC Faster
PCs have pre-installed programs on them upon purchasing from a retail store. As you’re setting up your new PC, you may decide to download other programs. Depending on the number of apps you download, this could cause your PC to slow down. Other factors such as how often you use your PC, for what it’s used, and how long you’ve had it also play a part in your PC slowing down. But there are things you can do to make your PC faster.

Performance Troubleshooter
Regardless of which OS you have, it comes with a performance troubleshooter installed. Upon running the program, the performance troubleshooter will scan your computer for issues and automatically fix them. Common problems that cause a computer to slow down include having multiple users logged in and having multiple windows open.
Remove Programs
As previously mentioned in the introduction, PC manufacturers install programs on the computers although you didn’t ask for them. Between those programs and those you download, it can cause your computer to slow down. It’s a good idea to delete programs you’re not using, including the manufacturer’s programs. There may be programs on there that you’ve been meaning to use but never did.
Startup Programs
Having too many startup programs can also cause your PC to slow down. When you turn on your computer, startup programs automatically run in the background. You’ll know which program starts automatically by looking in the notification area of the taskbar. Software manufacturers also install programs to run on startup without your knowledge. The best way to know which startup programs are running in the background is to use AutoRuns for Windows. From here you can check which applications to run in the background.
Defragment Hard Drive
As you download files and programs, they can become “scattered” over your hard drive; hence, having a fragmented drive. Therefore, fragmentation makes your hard drive do extra work and slowing down your PC in the process. Use the Disk Defragmenter tool to defragment your hard drive; this will help the overall PC run smoothly.
Clean up Files
When you use the Internet, the browser stores cookies and temporary files on your computer. Like deleting programs you’re not using, clean up the hard drive by removing temporary files.
Too Many Programs
If you’re the type who loves having ten browser tabs open while listening to music on your PC and using Skype to chat with your friends, don’t be surprised when your computer gets bogged down. Having too many programs open at the same time will affect your PCs performance. Try not to have so many applications open at the same time.
